Structure

My methodology is different to other training that you’ve seen or used:

  • I use visual assets to explain the theory, so that you understand the why as well as the how
  • We review progress at every session, to ensure that you’re progressing towards your goals
  • We pause the training whenever you need, to give you as much practice time as necessary

Consultation Call

Is this the right type of training for you?

A short video call. This gives you the opportunity to see how I work, and gives me an idea of your dog’s needs. It’s your opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the process.

In some cases, I may ask you to take your dog to the vet to check for certain conditions before we continue. The sudden onset of certain types of behavioural changes could indicate an underlying medical condition, and in those cases we must rule that out before making assumptions.

Everyone’s situation is different, and the exact structure of assessment and training you’ll need (see below) will be unique to you – during the call, we can chat about the best approach for you and your dog.

Assessment and Action Plan

Working out what’s required

This doesn’t oblige you to start training with me

We’ll meet at your home, I’ll ask you lots of questions about your dog(s) and your situation, and we’ll examine your training goals and any current behavioural struggles.

From this, I’ll create a ‘profile’ of your dog, showing you what’s going on for them – and what skills and concepts they’ll need to learn to go from where they are now, to where you want them to be.

We’ll then create an Action Plan tailored to your dog and their individual needs. This is a simple, relatable, visual guide which you and I create together, and which I then leave with you.

This is an incredibly valuable, in-depth, consultative process – you’ll learn about dog physiology and behaviour, you’ll probably have some myths dispelled, and it will give you practical, real-world, science-based knowledge and strategies that you can start using straight away.

It’s entirely your choice whether you want to start training with me after this session – either way, you’ll already be armed with some extremely valuable knowledge.

Tailored Training Courses

Bringing theory and practice together

Highly targeted training courses, carefully designed to help you achieve rapid, transformational progress with your most important training goals. Each course, and each session, is unique to you and your dog(s).

During each session, I’ll teach you some theory about your dog’s behaviour, then show you games and strategies to change it, then make sure you understand the concepts – and that your mechanics are good for the things you’ll be practising until the next session.

We’ll work as a team – you, me, and any other ‘important humans’ that interact with your dog(s) on a daily basis. This is because a consistency of knowledge, and of the application of the games and strategies you’ll be using, is important – dogs don’t learn well if their important humans each handle situations differently!

Each session is supported by graphical assets – ‘cue cards’ that I create while working in person, which we use as a growing collection of reference to build on at each subsequent session.

You’ll learn lots of theory, The Training Loop, situational management, advanced lead techniques, and more. My entire purpose is to make you the best trainer that your dog(s) could wish for.

Between sessions, we will communicate over WhatsApp to make sure that you’re on track and making good progress – this ensures that you’re getting the most out of the time you’re spending practising your new knowledge and skills.

By the end of your course, you’ll not only see significant progress – but you’ll also be thinking and acting like a trainer. You’ll understand why your dog does what they do, you’ll have go-to strategies to deal with emergencies, and you’ll have the confidence to help them navigate the world around them in a safe and rewarding way.

My approach (making you the trainer) is wildly different to traditional ‘dog training’ – and it works, time and time again:
